PROPHET ELVIS MBONYE BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS. WHY WE SHOULD CARE.

This past week has seen quite a frenzy of activities happening in Uganda’s capital of Kampala. Trending top on that list was the highly anticipated birthday celebrations of Prophet Elvis Mbonye.

PROPHET ELVIS MBONYE BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS. WHY WE SHOULD CARE.

Leading local and international news outlets, entertainment blogs and of course gossip sites ensured they captured every moment to satisfy the hungry eyes of an ever-increasing number of viewers, readers and of course trollers who can never seem to get enough of the Man of God. Glamour, Pomp, Grandiose and Splendor were some of the words that dotted the headlines describing how the celebrations went down. Exquisite images of lavish decorations, elegantly dressed men and women, blazing fireworks, and the Prophet himself in a dashing white tuxedo splashed the front pages. The flamboyant display would obviously not be complete without the best in entertainment. This included performances from Limitless Worship, a band from Kenya, Ruyonga and his very own Zoe Melodies.

To many, all that may seem exaggerated efforts just to celebrate a birthday.  Why all the apparent drama anyway? Wouldn’t a small celebration with close family and friends suffice? Must his birthday be like a flaunted trophy that is constantly waved in front of our faces? Why should we even care in the first place?  Well, let’s try to understand this together.

It has been said that the two most important days in a person’s life is the day on which he or she was born and the day they discover why they were born. From history, we learn not all men who have walked the face of this earth are worthy of celebration. The days of their birth brought much gloom and sorrow. Their subsequent birthdays brought only suffering and decadence to humanity. They played their role of villainy bringing much destruction and darkness on the earth. Am sure a name or two or perhaps even more pops up in your head when you think of such men. Something within you nudges the feeling of how much better the world could have been without them being born and walking the face of this earth.

Consequently, there those whose birth bring joy, light and love into the world. They make an indelible mark upon humanity. Their very essence springs forth a rare kind of freshness that leaves humanity refreshed and restored in a glorious state. These are the ones who are worthy of celebration, honor, and admiration. Without their contribution to humanity, the world would be, but an empty cracked shell. Their legacy also lives on to generations on end. Let’s take an example of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He is undoubtedly the most celebrated figure globally every year throughout the Christmas season. His birth meant salvation and restoration unto all men. He saved men from eternal damnation and gave them the eternal life of God, that they may be restored in their oneness with God.

Now back to Prophet Elvis Mbonye. During his birthday celebrations, he narrated his first encounter with the Holy Ghost when he got born again. He got filled with the Holy Spirit and instantly begun bubbling forth in spiritual tongues. From that time, his eyes were opened and he begun getting revelations and seeing things that would baffle the minds of many. He got his confirmation from Jesus Christ on that day that he had been called to be a Prophet to the Nations.

That of course is several decades back, Fast forward to today, Prophet Elvis boasts of raising a generation of believers known as the remnants, not only in Uganda but also globally. Evidenced by the tens of thousands of viewers who constantly tuned in for the online fellowships during the COVID 19 pandemic period. Not to mention the unprecedented and irrefutable record of prophetic fulfillments  of local and international  prophecies which edify the church of Christ.  The innumerable testimonies attributed to the working grace upon his life bears witness to the power of God working in and through him to establish the kingdom of God on this earth. With that said, it is now crystal clear why he is worthy of such degrees of celebration. Without his birth, the world would be darker than we know it today. His input in the edification of the church of Christ cannot go unnoticed and that is why he is greatly celebrated. Ours is just to wish him a happy birthday and our prayer for him is that God may continue to use him mightily, to harvest more souls to the kingdom of God and make the kingdoms of this world, the kingdom of our God and of Christ. Amen.
