Politics in Church or Church in Politics - Ruto's Rise to Victory

For hundreds of decades, politics has reigned across numerous civilizations to the extent that it has defined the state of affairs in these respective civilizations.

Politics in Church or Church in Politics - Ruto's Rise to Victory

To some, the events that play out on the different stages of the political theatre influence greatly the disposition of the citizens concerning what the future holds. In order to redefine these spaces, some nations venture into wars to overthrow or coups to oust leaders that they deem unfit to rule. In some others, even as is with any other pursuant of a legitimate peaceful power transfer, the democratic process through vote casting always transpires.

Not indifferent from the latter, the Kenya 2022 General Elections once again marked a momentous occasion in the country’s history from the time it gained independence back in 1963, electing its fifth president whose victory has revolutionalized the country's electoral identity for the highest office. For a race constantly characterized by chaos and bloodshed, this time round, the political climate continuously morphed from the time the campaign kicked off and finally took its full course when William Ruto was declared the fifth president of the Republic of Kenya with violence being suppressed for the first time in ages.

As any other story, this newness too has an inception that was the infamous “handshake” between the outgoing president Uhuru Kenyatta and the then opposition leader, Raila Amolo Odinga. This, as were told, was in a bid to bring Kenyans together and preach the gospel of peace in a nation which had suffered greatly from cyclonic  polarization and tribal tensions. This apparently unusual coalition between the Opposition and President Uhuru caused a rift and eventual death to his good-gone-bad political alliance with his deputy, Ruto. The once dynamic duo now became forces in contention that Ruto was disowned. This also meant that the prior planned succession script had now changed and Ruto would find himself in great opposition and at war with the party he once invested much to build. The rest, as they say, is now become history. Ruto, on this footing, having known how dominantly this union of Raila and Kenyatta influenced Kenya's politics, acknowledged that his victory was because of the power of prayer. So, where was God in all this?, one may ask.

An irrefutable truth is that, there is more to life than what meets the eye. That would mean that beyond the tangible or physical life, there exists life in the realm unseen. In other words, all life is spiritual. The spiritual realm , though invisible, is the realm of cause and the natural physical earthly realm, that of effect. This would also, in effect mean that nothing comes from without but all things spring from within. In the progressions of spiritual growth, those deemed to be the mature children of God understand this wholesomelyl and thus, know where to engage to alter results in their physical life. In other words, they understand from where to wage their battle.

It is established as Biblically spiritual principle that leaders who serve the interests of God to benefit mankind are appointed by God through the Prophet. In the book of Jeremiah, it is recorded that after the Lord appointed Jeremiah to be a prophet, He endowed him with the authority to plant and supplant leaders. Inasmuch as secularists may argue this legitimacy by fronting the rules of democracy and diplomacy, the inalienable gospel truth of the matter is that leaders thant seemingly rise into power by the latter two are simply role-playing what has already been predestined in the heavenlies.

Looking through history from the times of kingdoms, one notices God instructing His prophets to go anoint His ruler of choice. Taking David for an example, Prophet Samuel was sent to anoint him as the next King of Israel after King Saul had displeased God. God's preference in electing David shows what He values in a leader; one of a broken and contrite heart He will not reject. This is irrespective of David being an adulterer and murderer, He was stil regarded highly as a man after God's own heart.

Now, in reference to this, several prophetic declarations were made to William Ruto by God's Prophets as being God’s choice from the beginning. Millions of Christians, both in and out of the country, who comprehended the will of God stood in the gap and prayed relentlessly for his victory which similarly translated into victory for the Church. More singularly, the one prophet whom God has assigned the mandate to appoint and remove leaders with a track record of proven unprecedented fulfilment of personal, national and international prophecies, Prophet Elvis Mbonye, the Church can only be indebted in gratitude for him choosing to honor his call.

William Ruto, equally, in his acceptance speech recognized that he was prayed into victory amidst many odds. God's tendency is to take out of the picture everything that would render credit to the hand of man such that He can receive all the glory. The rise of Ruto dictates the advent of a new dawn for Kenya, the East African region and world at large. It's a dawn of glory, prosperity, and increase to the Church of Christ!
