The road to the world Top Model

What truly comes to mind when you are announced to be a top model representing your own home country?

The road to the world Top Model

I am certain the feeling is overwhelming. One feels all ecstatic and nervous at the same time. In other words, you are agitated.

Fashion is a form of art where one expresses oneself with autonomy at a particular period and place in the context of clothing, footwear, lifestyle, accessories, makeup, hairstyle and body posture.

According to a fashion scholar, Susan B. Kaiser, everyone is ‘forced’ to appear, unmediated before others.  Everyone is evaluated by their attires: how one looks, what colors, materials and silhouette one wears. Thus the saying, one is approached as per how they dress.

An interesting fact with fashion is that, even when the garments are the same in style and material, they will still be different in appearance that is if they are washed, folded, mended or new.

What is Uganda Pageant Girls all about?

The Uganda Pageant Girls is a part of esteemed internationally franchised beauty pageant networks owned and managed by Afrost Uganda Marketing. It selects Ugandan entrants to Miss International, Miss Earth and a final pageant which is to be revealed in 2022.

Uganda alongside other models celebrate Miss Barbara Namuddu as she represents them at the 30th anniversary of the World Top Model, to be hosted at Sheraton Gold Parco Dei Medici Hotel, in Rome, Italy.

Barbara has always been passionate about being a model since she was a little girl. She has had a great opportunity to walk at various fashion weeks including the Kampala fashion week, The Hub of Africa Fashion Week in Addis Ababa and Collective Rwanda Fashion Week.

She aims to use her modelling career and the runway as a platform to help young people especially girls become more aware of who they are and instill a strong mentality in them. That is, no matter where they are or whatever they do, they can always fulfill their dreams. In other words be a Girls Advocate.

Barbara has volunteered with a youth led organization, Reach a Hand Uganda which focuses on youth empowerment programs through sexual and reproductive health rights education.

All the best Barbara as you let the Star in you shine so bright.
