Do we really love this nation, Uganda?

Have we all lost the hope and pride that we had the day we got "independence"? Our motto then was “For God and My Country" however, few Ugandans have stood by this motto. For example, the athletes that represent Uganda regionally and internationally, especially those that have won medals.

Do we really love this nation, Uganda?

No one can deny the fact that they've represented Uganda very well however, a certain category of Ugandans including several politicians have heeded to the notion of, “For my Family and My stomach". Very few Ugandans have the real pride of a Ugandan which should be: fearing the Lord and love for our country. Shame on you, to all those that have brought disgrace to this country, those that have selfishly guarded their interests and ignored the interests of the Ugandans.

This cuts across several sectors; the political, religious, social, entertainment among others. Sadly, the people in authority in all these sectors are some of the culprits. This is the only nation where a Ugandan feels bad being referred to as Ugandan. Ugandans laugh and trash each other because they know that there's nothing good that can come out of their country and this is inclusive of the leaders. This is the only nation where wealth and success is attacked. Ugandans are skeptical about anyone who's successful. This is the only nation, I repeat, where wealth is investigated and poverty is praised. A normal "Ugandan" can never think they can become a billionaire in dollars. Why? Poverty Mentality!

Everyone now that gets into authority enters that position with a mind of "entrepreneurship". Political positions and other leadership positions have merely become business ventures. Even the so called “innocent “have fallen prey of this notion. Have we forgotten our motto? Places of worship amongst all are the major centers facing attack today in this nation. Leaders in Uganda, have we forgotten what our motto is? Oh God, how we cry out that these leaders in Uganda heed this country's motto, "For God and My Country".

To the Ugandan reading this, will you choose to wake up from slumber and serve other Ugandans with the pride of a God Fearing Ugandan?

For God and My Country.
