From a sore throat, cough, congestion, sneezing, runny nose, just feeling awful missed work days and reduced productivity; to a decline in your ability to participate in daily activities, it is important to pinpoint the reason you are getting frequent colds. These will mostly include: -

  1. You are not eating healthy foods and are eating unhealthy foods instead. Unhealthy foods like sugar and processed foods greatly weekend the immune system and cause you to easily catch a cold.
  2. You spend most of your time indoors. Exposure to dust, disease causing germs and colder temperatures indoors triggers colds. Insufficient exposure to sunlight to form vitamin D which is focal in fighting viral infections shall lead you to easily catch a cold.
  3. It blunts the immune system by decreasing the number of immune cells which weakens your immune response. Stress-less.
  4. Sleep deprivation. Beyond feeling chronically tired and fatigued, a lack of sleep is linked to a weaker immune system which makes you easily get a cold. Sleep better.
  5. You lack exercise. Exercise boosts the immune system and prepares the body to fight infections like the common cold.
  6. You have poor hygiene. Cold causing viral particles spread easily when a stage is set for them with poor hygiene. Gadgets like mobile phones should be paid special attention to.
  7. Chemicals found in cigarette smoke have been found to alter the immune system's natural response by weakening it. Quit smoking.

Having known the common causes, it is noticeable that there is a possibility of greatly reducing one’s chancing of catching a cold. To prevent frequent colds, the following measures are important: -

  • Eat nutrient-rich whole foods, like well-sourced organic, nourishing soups, colorful salads, and green-leafy veggies. These are full of flu-fighting phytonutrients. A little bit of grass-fed and local range animal foods can also be a good choice. Supplement with superfoods to feed that hidden hunger.
  • Get some sun on your skin. If unable, consider making mushrooms and powders like Spirulina and Chlorella a part of your daily routine as an alternative source of Vitamin D among other dietary sources.
  • Manage your stress with essential oil therapy and other natural supports like Ashwagandha.
  • Get at about 8 hours of sleep. You can use a sleep assisting oil or powder after checking with an expert.
  • Exercise at least 30 minutes a day.
  • Practice good hygiene practices like frequent hand washing and disinfect your phone.
  • Seek help if you decide to cease smoking.

With these options, you can easily improve your immunity to overcome common colds and consequently strengthen your ability to work without getting weakened.
